Postby jdrakeh on Mon Jun 16, 2008 6:28 pm

Starting 06/16/2008, this will be the official thread for all further Borderlands development. Past development took place at ENWorld. I will repost all of the past material here as the week progresses.
Sincerely,
James D. Hargrove

Here is the Borderlands cover, based on Storn's art:

You can now download the Borderlands Referee Sheets as a PDF (for free, of course).

I've uploaded the Borderlands Spell Companion for your perusal. Like the Bestiary, it's in draft form (RTF) and intended primarily for developers, though you can use it to play an actual game.

Here's a link to the Borderlands Bestiary (RTF) for use with Holmes Edition BD&D. It takes little conversion to use in OD&D, Basic, or BECMI D&D (to say nothing of Labyrinth Lord).

Here is the Borderlands map:

I think that this will be the final map for now.

Owing to the site switchover and associated file movement, I've had a pretty busy day. Expect new versions of both Borderlands Elf and Borderlands Dwarf culture to be posted by the week's end, as well as a rough mission statement and Introduction for inclusion of the finished PDF (yes, it will still be free).
Sincerely,
James D. Hargrove

I've just posted the Corrected Borderlands Referee Sheets. These should print better and the error on the Dwarf/Halfling Saving Throw table has been addressed. I apologize for the delays on the race/class info, but it seems like I might actually be running this with two groups for play test purposes now (so, the present delay will mean a more polished freebie).
Sincerely,
James D. Hargrove

This project has slowly taken on a life of its own. After some actual play and feedback, I've switched it over to Risus, though I'm compiling a website that lays out everything in a system neutral format (HTML only), along with links to the documents for BD&D (RTF, PDF) and Risus (PDF), so readers can ostensibly use it with any system of their choice.

I'm building the system neutral bestiary currently and have finished the sections for races and magic, as well as the site index. Up next, I'm re-imaging the map (to accommodate the settting name change), building the Gazetteer page, and uploading an article on module placement recommendations (based on my own placements). I'll round out the site with a "Setting Secrets" page (100% optional) and a site OGL document.

I do, however, start a new job on th 8th of September, so I'm not quite sure how that will effect progress on the site just yet. I'll give another update when I get it figured out.
Sincerely,
James D. Hargrove
